Shashe River Agate Standing Freeform. This piece has Carnelian-like colouring with a lovely white crystalline cave on one side. Excellent quality material. From Shashe River, Zimbabwe. Very Good to A Grade. Size approx 7.5cm. Weight approx 413g.

GEOLOGICAL

Agate is the multicoloured banded variety, and the most well-known, form of Chalcedony. The different colour bands or layers are produced as liquids of different compositions seep into cavities over geologically long time periods. They form layers of Chalcedony on top of each other.

Shashe River Agate is famous for its rich natural colours – especially the blues, reds and pinks. They often have crystalline centres or intrusions and stunning complex banded patterns.
