Absolutely stunning polished Ancestralite Jaspillite wand with rounded ends. Bands of oxblood red Jasper, metallic silver Hematite and sparkling glittery Specularite with minor Quartz veins in association. Excellent finish. A Grade. Size approx 10cm.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Jaspillite is a tradename for banded iron ore. Also known as Jasper Taconite or Hematized Jasper. It consists of layers of iron-rich Quartzites, Jasper and iron oxides. Usually Magnetite and/or Hematite.

The most desirable material includes layers of metallic silver glittery Specularite or drusy Hematite. This variety is usually called Ancestralite.
