These rough pieces are a delicate light blue to grey hue with some matrix present. Angelite is the trade name for blue Anhydrite. It is also known as Angeline. Angelite is a fairly rare stone. From Mexico. Good to A Grade.

GEOLOGICAL:

From the Greek anhydros, meaning “waterless”, Anhydrite was named by A.G. Werner, a well-known German geologist, in 1804. This translucent, blue-gray Anhydrite variety was found in Peru in the late 1900’s and is known by the trade name “Angelite” or “Angeline”. Fairly rare, Anhydrite doesn’t occur in abundance, as it alters into the much more commonly found Gypsum when exposed to water over time.
