GEOLOGICAL

Anhydrite is a beautiful stone which is highly sought after and incredibly rare. The blue variant was discovered in Peru in 1987. Malagasy Anhydrite has variable purple colour intensity and is often found in association with peach Anhydrite and or Chrome Diopside.

Anhydrite’s name is derived from the Greek ‘an’ (without) and ‘hydor’ (water), as it’s a dehydrated form of Gypsum. It occurs as clear, blue, purple or grey long-bladed or short crystals in matrix.
