Geological:

Aventurine is a translucent Quartz crystal with inclusions of tiny flakes or specks of various minerals that give it a sparkle in the light. This sparkle is referred to as ‘aventurescence’. Aventurine was named in 1837 after the Italian word “a Ventura”, which means “by chance”. Different inclusions within the Quartz matrix, in different quantities and distribution, are responsible for the various colours of Aventurine.

Flakes of Lepidolite (pink to purple Mica) create a pink, red or purple Aventurine. While Hematite and Goethite can create a pink, orange, red or brown Aventurine.
