Description

Bloodstone Natural Rough Piece.

These rough pieces are a solid dark green Chalcedony with tiny flecks of red Jasper. Some intrusive white and yellow areas. Red flecks might not appear on all pieces as these are small cobbed pieces, but all pieces are from the same Bloodstone material. Good to A Grade.

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Heliotrope is a mineral aggregate and a name given to various combinations of green material with red flecked or spotted inclusions. Less commonly there may be white or yellow inclusions. If the material is translucent, it’s called green Chalcedony (or Plasma). If it’s solid opaque, it’s called green Jasper.

The red inclusions are classically iron oxide, however it can also be Actinolite or Hornblende needles, depending on the material. Heliotrope is also known as Bloodstone, due to the red spots.
