Chrysocolla Natural Rough Piece.

These Chrysocolla natural rough pieces are generally a mixed matrix of Quartz with varying amounts and combinations of Chrysocolla, Azurite, Malachite, Cuprite, Shattuckite and Tenorite. Each piece is unique! From Namibia. Mixed to Good Grade. Choose your weight.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) colour. It is a hydrous copper silicate that’s usually found with Malachite and Azurite. A secondary mineral, Chrysocolla forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. It’s the copper that gives this mineral its beautiful turquoise colour. Chrysocolla was first mentioned in 315 BC by Theophrastus, Greek Peripatetic philosopher and pupil of Aristotle.
