Green Fluorite Natural Rough Piece.

Lovely rough pieces with good cleavage and translucency. Variable colour intensity, mostly light green. Occasional stripes and tints of blues and purples. From Namibia. Good to Very Good Grade.

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, and belongs to the halide minerals. It can occur in natural octahedron and complex isometric forms, though it crystallizes in a cubic habit. Also known as Fluor Spar, it can occur in many different colours. Optically clear, transparent Fluorite is used in microscopes and telescopes, due to low dispersion properties.

Fluorite is often fluorescent under UV light. In fact, it was one of the first fluorescent minerals to be studied in 1852, and the word ‘fluorescent’ was named after Fluorite.
