Girasol Opal, or Opalized Quartz is the trade name given to clear to milky star Quartz mined in Madagascar, which displays a gentle opalescent glow related to the water content in the stone.

The term “Girasol Opal” is in debate within the industry and may not be the correct name for this stone. Other names the material is known by include Girasol Quartz, Moon Opal, Opalized Quartz and Pearl Quartz.
