GEOLOGICAL:

Chalcedony is a broad term used to describe microcrystalline forms of Silica. Jasper is any type of Chalcedony which is opaque (ie solid, not translucent, light doesn’t pass through the material). Jasper has many different known varieties. It can be a single colour, multicoloured, spotted, striped or speckled. It is pigmented by mineral inclusions, mostly iron oxides.
