GEOLOGICAL:

Jasper is Chalcedony that is opaque (i.e. solid colour, not translucent), pigmented by mineral inclusions, mostly iron oxides. Picture Jaspers refer to a formation of Jasper that occurs in layers and patterns that are reminiscent of scenery or landscapes. It is found in different parts of the world, notably Africa, Australia and Brazil. Different locations produce uniquely different colours and patterns.
