Fossil Mosasaur Lizard Tooth 

Very cool fossilized tooth from the gigantic aquatic lizard, Mosasaur aka The Great Marine Reptile. Dating back to the Cretaceous period more than 66 million years ago. Some Native American tribes who found fossils from the Mosasaur and its kin, believe them to be the remains of ancient mythical Wakinyan (Thunder) and Unktehila (Water) beings.

Note some specimens have slight chips present. You will receive one fossil tooth. Size approx 2-4cm.

 

GEOLOGICAL

Mosasaurs are a group of extinct marine reptiles. They belong to the order Squamata, which includes lizards and snakes. The Mosasaur is known to have been carnivorous and could grow up to 15 meters in length. Mosasaurs were sleek, streamlined, and fast-moving predators!

They roamed the planet during the Cretaceous period some 82 to 66 million years ago. The Tylosaurus mosasaur shown on the Jurassic Park movie was the largest mosasaur to exist.

Native Americans found the fossil remains of these giants and believe them to be the remains of the mythological beings Wakinyan (Thunder beings) and Unktehila (Water monsters).
