GEOLOGICAL

Sodalite is a fairly rare material, known for its beautiful royal blue colour. It gets it’s name from it’s sodium content. Classed as a feldspathoid, Sodalite is a member of the ‘Sodalite’ group, along with Hauyne, Nosean, Lazurite and Tugtupite.

Sodalite material is most commonly found as opaque massive, however crystals can form and are usually translucent. Massive material generally occurs with Calcite in the form of white to cream streaks and patches.

Sodalite can fluoresce bright orange under UV light.
