Blue Tiger’s Eye Tumbled Stone.

Chatoyant dark blue Tiger’s Eye, also known as Hawk’s Eye. Shades of blue, grey, green and some gold to brown across the material. Good to A Grade. 

 

GEOLOGICAL:

Tiger’s Eye is a pseudomorph of compact Chalcedony Quartz after the fibrous mineral Crocidolite. It is formed when the Quartz takes over and dissolves the Crocidolite, leaving the Quartz in a finely fibrous and chatoyant form. Blue Tiger’s Eye, also known as Hawk’s Eye, is Tiger’s Eye with grey-blue to blue-green hues.

When Crocidolite (which is naturally blue) is dissolved by Quartz, traces of Iron Oxide remain. Less Iron results in the blue colour of Crocidolite being dominant, thus blue Tiger’s Eye. If more Iron is present, the colour tends to result in the brown to gold colour of gold Tiger’s Eye.
